The Musical Olympus foundation to take part in the 11th Session of the World Public Forum "Dialogue of Civilizations"

The 11th Annual Session of the World Public Forum (WPF) "Dialogue of Civilizations" started on the island of Rhodes (Greece) on October, 2. At the initiative of Irina Nikitina, President of the Musical Olympus Foundation, the scientific programme of the Forum will include “Music and our environments” session with leading experts from Russia, Europe, and USA on its speakers’ list. Also for the second time the Musical Olympus Foundation organizes “Welcome” musical festival within the framework of the Forum. The WPF will run until October, 6.

Concerts of the “Welcome” festival will be held every evening during the whole session. Signum Five (Slovenia, Germany, Serbia), Zventa Sventana (Russia), Pangea - The Beatles Revival Band (The Czech Republic), Arto Tunçboyaciyan (Armenia, Turkey, USA), and Sona Jobarteh (Africa) will perform before the participants and guests of the Forum.

“Music inspires, tunes in a particular mood, and even heals people. It does not have any boundaries or nationality, and is understood without translation”, says Irina Nikitina, President of the Musical Olympus Foundation. “These evening concerts are to demonstrate the wholesome and uniting effects of music and to charge the participants with positive energy that will speed up the process of finding efficient solutions to many challenging issues the next day”.

The Rhodes Forum for the second time includes a music session in its scientific programme at the initiative of Irina Nikitina. This year the session will address the interconnection of music and our environments. The seminar will be attended by such experts in musical art, as Nigel Osborne (UK, Scotland) – Co-Director of the Institute for Music in Human and Social Development (IMHSD), composer; Paul Geluso (USA) – a professor at the New York University, Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development, Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions; Francisco Nunez (USA/Dominican Republic) - Founder and Artistic Director of the Young People’s Chorus of NYC, composer, director; Michael Depledge (UK) - the Chair of Advisory Board and Professor of European Center for Environment and Human Health, and others. The session will be chaired by the President of the Musical Olympus Foundation Irina Nikitina.

Since 2003, every autumn the island of Rhodes hosts a session of the World Public Forum (WPF) "Dialogue of Civilizations". And since2012, the Musical Olympus Foundation actively participates in its preparation and organization. The Forum aims at creating, developing, and embedding the culture of dialoguewhile also instilling the value of cooperation and understanding in the everyday life of people from different civilizations.
