This year’s festival brought together 27 artists from 14 countries, with the help of Vontobel, the Swiss Investment bank, and BMW. The festival, which is known as a «parade of winners», showcased young musicians who have recently won prizes at the most prestigious international music competitions.
Irina Nikitina is the originator and director of the «Musical Olympus» international festival. She graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in piano and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with a degree in harpsichord, and became known for her distinctive performing style.
St. Petersburg, the Venice of the north, is one of the cultural capitals of the world. Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin helped the city celebrate its 307th birthday. The most glamorous event was the Illusion Ball, held in President Yeltsin’s Library.
